In 1985, my parents opened a restaurant in Brighton called Korea House. Then we moved to Boston and called it Minsok in 1995. Then my parents gave the restaurant to me and we moved to Brookline two years ago (2007).
Since 1985 our recipe has been the same, because I learned from my parents and they learned from theirs. Our food has the taste of Korea, because I never changed the recipe. A good number of Korean people dine in our restaurant, because it tastes like food that they remember eating in Korea.
When I moved to this location, I decided to add a sushi bar. We also added an item called live sashimi. To make it, we catch a live fish and we make sashimi out of it so it is freshly cut. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it if you like sashimi.
When you get live sashimi it is a course meal. You get side dishes, then you get the sashimi, then you get spicy soup with rice.
Our regulars say that this is the best Korean food that they had ever tasted, and they especially like the kimchi.
I make the kimchi myself every few weeks and I don’t put any preservatives or MSG. It is all made with fresh organic ingredients. This goes for all of our Korean foods that we serve. We make our own sauce from scratch so it has a fresh taste.
Come on in and taste a bit of Korea with us.
