I never imagined I would become a Bodyworker. But in 1997, I followed my intuition to switch gears from mechanical engineering into bodywork -– and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have been a licensed massage therapist, with a concentration in Structural Integration, since 1999. I have been teaching this powerful form of bodywork all over the country for the past six years.
My training has been extensive. In addition to training at the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, I have taken hundreds of hours of continuing education, including an advanced Human Cadaver Dissection training at the Tufts Medical School. In 2002, I completed a two-year advanced training in KMI Structural Integration, which now is the core focus of my practice.
KMI is a series of sessions that focus on resolving chronic, long-term postural patterns, especially those that result in chronic pain. I continue to be awed by the power of KMI and my ability to resolve my clients' physical limitations and revitalize their lives. They come to me after years of debilitating struggles and pain and together we work to change their lives. You can hear directly from my clients and read the many articles I’ve published on my website at EliThompson.com.
I live and practice in Brookline with my wife and three kids (all under 5.5!). I enjoy the energy, convenience, and diversity Brookline offers, and look forward to running into my clients around town in coffee shops and local town events.
