I enjoyed dance as a child, although I did not take lessons. I choreographed in high school, just inspired by old movies. While choosing between college majors (Bacteriology or Hebrew?!?!), I tried a dance course, then another, and found my life work.
I thought a dance career would be a challenging and varied one. I could be an artist, educator, and run my own show through choreography, teaching, and directing a company. As a senior, I arranged a performance at a school for the deaf. After college I built on that experience by co-founding the Peanut Butter & Jelly Dance Company. I have presented some work for the general public, but bringing dance to children and children to dance has become my main focus.
Being involved in dance is incredibly valuable to children. Teamwork, self-discipline, kindness, self-confidence, creativity, invention, concentration, and physical fitness are the values we want to inculcate in our youth. You find all of these in dance.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Dance Company, a group of adult professional dancers, presents fun, creative modern dance programs for young audiences, who participate in exploring movement and showing colorful dances. PB&J Dance Classes for Kids teach a “creative movement” approach, fostering the love of moving and dancing as the chief goal.
SMALL FEETS dance company, young dancers ages 7-10, performs around the community.
I have the varied career I hoped for and am proud to be a dancer, dance educator, and company director. Come and join me in the DANCE!
